Gamarnik : Using Fluid Models to Prove Stability of Adversarial Queueing Networks

چکیده
| A digital communication network can be modeled as an adversarial queueing network. An adversarial queueing network is deened to be stable if the number of packets stays bounded over time. A central question is to determine which adversarial queueing networks are stable under every work-conserving packet routing policy. Our main result is that stability of an adversarial queueing network is implied by stability of an associated uid queueing network.

متن کاملStability of Adversarial Queues via Fluid Models
The subject of this paper is stability properties of adversarial queueing networks. Such queueing systems are used to model packet switch communication networks, in which packets are generated and routed dynamically, and have become a subject of research focus recently. Adversarial queueing networks are defined to be stable, if the number of packets stays bounded over time. A central question i...

We introduce a new method to investigate stability of work-conserving policies in multiclass queueing networks. The method decomposes feasible trajectories and uses linear programming to test stability. We show that this linear program is a necessary and sufficient condition for the stability of all work-conserving policies for multiclass fluid queueing networks with two stations. Furthermore, ...

We look at routing and scheduling problems on Kelly type networks where the injection process is under the control of an adversary. The novelty of the model we consider is that the adversary injects requests of distinct types. Resources are subject to switch-over delays or setups when they begin servicing a new request class. In this new setting, we study the behavior of sensible policies as in...
متن کاملStability in Queueing Networks via the Finite Decomposition Property
Determination of the stability behavior of a queueing network is an important part of analyzing such systems. In Gamarnik and Hasenbein (2005) it is shown if a fluid network has the finite decomposition property (FDP) and is not weakly stable, then any queueing network associated with the fluid network is not rate stable. In that paper the FDP was demonstrated for two station queueing networks ...
